ASTRA Aquarium: A Fun and Instructive Example Application
Posted in "Articles, Flash" at 12:51 pm on November 26, 2007 by Michael Hoch |
We just completed the ASTRA Aquarium, a new example that uses all ASTRA 1.0 components (Tree, Menu, TabBar, AutoComplete, and Charts) in one fun application.
Aquarium shows how to integrate these components in a real application and how to customize them for special use. Definite highlights are the custom skins for TabBar and Tree, a custom CellRenderer for Tree featuring interaction and animation, and the integration of AutoComplete with Tree via ActionScript. Oh, and yes, we also put in the Charts component to display current statistics. Check out the details at developer.yahoo.com/flash (”Featured App” box on the top right), and we hope you’ll have fun with it!

It’s fixed, thanks for pointing it out. This apparently was a bug in the Flash pre-release / beta player.
We don’t know exactly what caused the error in this version of the player, but we determined that giving the TabBars - which in our application appear on two different frames - unique names does fix the problem. Creating a very simple example did not allow us to reproduce the error though. This leads us to believe that it might be a race condition when switching frames.
